The Design Programme selected Newicon over other agencies in the South West, as they were looking for a company with strong user experience expertise. The solution we provided enabled users to navigate the sections of the site using a one page design, which proved to be a really intuitive experience that functioned well and worked with the existing branding.
We were very honoured to be asked by The Design Programme (Part of WSX Enterprise Ltd) a leading industry voice, to develop a web application to promote the use of design in the business world.
In order to create an intuitive user experience, we ran initial workshops with The Design Programme team to brainstorm how the user interface would function. Our aim was to make it as simple as possible to find a business objective relevant to the challenge the business was facing, then lead the user through a series of example case studies to further understand how other companies have utilised design to solve their challenges. The site provides in-depth PDF downloads of each case study, and also provides a series of action plans to help the business prepare a brief for a design company.
The website was architected using our unique prototyping application, HotSpot. This allowed everyone to understand how the site would look and function before more time consuming coding was done. The application was developed using the WordPress platform and includes a bespoke approach to content management, allowing The Design Programme’s team to update content with ease, when required.
Newicon helped us shape our thinking about getting the most from our ideas, how to exploit the available technologies and how we could deliver a great user experience. Using the user insight work we had already done they were able to develop a simple architecture and a clear look and feel for the site to match the aim of providing an on-line service that was both usable and useful for the audiences we were trying to support, a good result we were all happy with.Anna Traylor
